Thrift Store Fun

So I have learned to love thrift shopping! Our new Salvation Army Store and Donation store has been a great experience for me to find some great items to re purpose and make into some fun and easy projects!

Look at all this stuff I got for UNDER $8!!! Not including the cat ( she just likes to know whats going on and help out) For that $8 I got. 2 wall hanging candle holders in some bronzy color. 2 Vases that were kind of different looking/ shaped. A mason jar shaped drinking glass which will most likely become a vase of some sort or candle holder.  A plain green plate. a silver serving platter of some form but very pretty and a small glass candle stick holder.

Well I spray painted the wall hung candle stick holders in a satin nickle. ( The only spray paint color i currently have. I miss college when i had black and white and who knows what other colors!)

And while at the salvation army i notice that the solver serving dish would make a cute jewelry stand ( you know for all the stuff i don't wear? But it will look really cute on the dresser I am working on) So I though maybe it needed 2 tiers just to make it look truly like that? Hence the candle stick holder and the Plain Plate.
Well I spray painted all of those separately    in sating nickle, but hey it makes it look silver how it should look and it matched the pull on the dresser that I am waiting for to come in) Then using a super glue put all of them together. And look how cute!!! Now I just need my dresser to be done so i can put this on it!!

Here is a pin that i found that would be fun too

Pintrest dresser project

My Cat Really gets into these projects too
So as I said in the description I am beginning to show off my Pintrest trials! As an interior design school graduate I need to get my apartment to look as if a designer actually lives there since right now it looks like a mish mosh of college stuff and mom and dads old furniture,(which it is)

My first project is one I have been eagerly waiting to do mainly since it is difficult to find a decent dresser that needs to be fixed up and at the right price. I have been searching on Craigslist for weeks now and have finally found one I liked and was able to get to before the owner sold it.(my main problem really)

So now that I have found it I can start the process of making it into what I want it to look like and figure out the best ways to do everything to it. Sanding it, stripping it, priming, repainting, new hardware and the finishing touches. I think it should take me about a month based on budget and the time I actually have available to work on it, since I don't really want to abandon hanging out and having a life too.
